However, things did not initially go to plan: Guy struggled with organisation whilst he was here at Hills Road and he did not get the grades he needed first time around.

He decided to take took a gap year, he retook his A levels and got to his first choice university to study Material Science and Engineering.

Guy worked during his gap year and gained valuable experience in the workplace. With support from the Careers team at Hills Road he was able to reapply to the University of Sheffield and he is loving his course. He has also joined the Yorkshire Universities Air Squadron (YUAS), which is a volunteer unit with the RAF and he will be taking up a place with the RAF following his Masters' degree.

He talked to students about how missing grades first time around isn't the end of the world and can sometimes be a blessing in disguise!  He talked about his course, life at university, the squadron, overcoming difficulties and how to get into the university you want to go to, even if it at first seems out of reach.

Thank you Guy for helping to inspire current Hills Road students!
