1. When were you at Hills Road and what did you study?
I studied at Hills Road from 2014-2016. My AS subjects were Biology, Business Studies, Physical Education and Sociology. At A level I dropped Biology.

2. Who were you favourite teachers at Hills Road?
I think my favourite teacher has to be Miss Machin and I think anyone who has studied Sociology at Hills Road will agree! One of the best teachers I’ve ever had. My Business teacher Mr Prior was also one of my favourite teachers.

3. What are your fondest memories of your time at Hills Road?
Some of my fondest memories at Hills Road are with the rugby team also playing in the Copa Del Hills indoor football competition was up there with one of my best, and worst experiences (ended up losing in the final in my last year). I really enjoyed my time at Hills Road though, met some amazing people that I will be in contact with for the rest of life.

4. Why did you decide to study Business Management and Marketing at university? Do you have any advice for students considering that course?
I think like many students aged 16-18 I didn’t really know what I wanted to do past sixth form and university. So I went into Hills Road with an open mind. Luckily I decided to do Business Studies last minute, changing from Accounting on the induction day. I ended up finding the course really interesting especially the marketing aspects and knew I wanted to study it further at university. My advice when considering what course to do is generic and applicable to all students; make sure you have a genuine interest in your study area. You’re going to have to write a dissertation some day so choosing a course because you think it will be easy or you like the teachers doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll enjoy studying it at university.

5. What are your future career ambitions?
My ambitions have progressed from starting at Hills Road. I would love to end up working in a marketing department. However, the field, size and location of that company I’m not quite sure of yet. I am currently applying for Year in Industry placements in marketing for 2018, which hopefully will help me narrow my ambition and give me a sense of what it is like to work in a marketing department.
